George Town landfill to be capped and covered next year

As negotiations continue to progress between the Decco Consortium and the Cayman Islands Government, we are pleased to confirm that capping and covering the main mound at the current landfill is expected to start early next year and that the Terms of Reference for the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) was submitted to the Environmental Assessment Board (EAB) this month along with the Remediation Options Report for the GT Landfill.

Land donated by Dart to New Zealand government becomes a recreation reserve

Land donated by the Kenneth B. Dart Foundation to the New Zealand government has been designated a recreation reserve.

The Wairoa Gorge land, which comprises 2,127 acres of native forest in the Tasman, Nelson region of the South Island, will be held in perpetuity by the Department of Conservation, partnering with the Nelson Mountain Bike Club to provide public access to the property’s network of trails.


2019 Dart Grants Awards CI$250,000 to Nine Recipients

Dart Chief Executive Officer Mark VanDevelde recently announced the recipients of the inaugural Dart Grants valued at CI$250,000. Special Needs Foundation Cayman received this year’s CI$50,000 Dart Grant in support of its Inclusion Programme. Eight additional local non-profit organisations received CI$25,000 Dart Grants.


Dart leases Barefoot Beach

Dart has agreed to lease its property at Barefoot Beach in East End to a third-party tenant who has partnered with NCB Group for the planned development of a boutique eco-resort.

The third-party tenant approached Dart to lease the site for the construction of 89 low-rise, environmentally friendly cottages and onsite hotel amenities. The planning application was submitted on 14 March.
