Dart and Seven Mile Suites Ltd. are pleased to announce that they have entered into a purchase agreement for Dart to acquire the Comfort Suites Seven Mile Beach hotel in Grand Cayman.
“This decision marks a new chapter for the hotel,” says Managing Director of Seven Mile Suites Ltd. Gary Rutty. “We have built a great business over almost 20 years due to the efforts of our dedicated staff and management team. We are proud that Dart sees the value in our business, which continues to deliver an excellent product and service to our guests, and feel this is an exciting outcome for the future of the hotel.”
Comfort Suites Seven Mile Beach, a franchise of the Choice Hotels group, has won awards for its service and guest loyalty programmes. With a behind-the-scenes legacy of supporting workforce development in the hospitality industry, Comfort Suites Seven Mile Beach boasts a current staff complement of approximately 90% Caymanian employees.
“I want to thank the staff and management that have worked at the hotel over the years for their commitment and efforts toward the success of the hotel,” Rutty says. “On behalf of the current ownership group, I want to wish everyone continued success for their future.”
All existing staff will be offered the opportunity to continue employment under the new ownership.
Dart Chief Executive Officer Mark VanDevelde says the purchase complements the company’s existing hotel portfolio.
“With the planned purchase of Comfort Suites Seven Mile Beach, we can ensure a range of accommodation offerings for a variety of visitor demographics,” he says. “We recognise the strength of the hotel’s performance and the dedication of its staff and management team towards its continued success.”
As a major investor in Cayman’s tourism product, VanDevelde says the planned purchase represents Dart’s continued commitment to and confidence in the Cayman Islands as a destination.
“This planned investment demonstrates Dart’s confidence in the strength and resilience of the Cayman Islands economy,” he says. “We look forward to welcoming Comfort Suites Seven Mile Beach into Dart’s hospitality portfolio.”
