Dart to Build New Cayman International School

Dart Realty (Cayman) Ltd. announced plans to build a new world class educational facility in time for the start of the 2006-2007 school year. The state of the art facility will be leased to the Cayman International School.

Pending Central Planning Authority approval, the school will be part of the first phase of Dart’s 240-acre, multi-decade, mixed-use, master-planned community that stretches from Seven Mile Beach to North Sound consisting of retail, office, entertainment, residential and resort components. The school will be located east of the Esterly Tibbets Highway in the residential section of the development.

At a meeting Wednesday evening with parents of students currently attending Cayman International School, Mr. Jim Lammers, Managing Director of Dart Realty, and Mr. Greg Hedger, Principal of Cayman International School, addressed the large crowd on hand with details of the new school. “We have always felt that a top-notch school is central to the success of a neighborhood development”, said Jim Lammers, “and we have every confidence that the new facility will allow the Cayman International School to provide an exceptional educational experience to its present and future students.” Adding to Mr. Lammers’ enthusiasm, Greg Hedger said, “This will be the best facility I’ve ever worked in and many will ever see, I waited for this day to come for a long time”.

The school is being designed by Moore Ruble Yudell of Santa Monica, California, and will be built in several phases. Over time, the Cayman International School, which is currently nursery through grade 9, will expand through grade 12, bringing the eventual number of students to several hundred. Plans call for a swimming pool, tennis courts, playground, soccer field, library, assembly hall, gymnasium, music/art rooms and science labs.

Cayman International School was founded in 2003, as a private, non-sectarian, coeducational school that replaced Faulkner Academy. It provides an American/International education to provide an exemplary school program for all students. A challenging student-centered academic program accompanies an optimal student teacher ratio. The school is part of the global vision of the International School Services, Princeton, New Jersey, USA. For more information call Mr. Greg Hedger at 945-4664.
