Jake Fagan
2022 High School Scholar
Cayman Prep & High School
Jake is prioritising his GCSE examinations, aiming to score as high as possible in all his exams. His favourite school subjects are the sciences - especially physics and maths. In his spare time, Jake enjoys swimming and tennis – a sport he has played since he was five years old. He is passionate about watersports, including kiteboarding, freediving, surfing and water skiing.
I always look out for my peers and I like to help others. I might come across as laidback, but I am very ambitious and determined to meet the goals that I set for myself.
Jake's highlights
Jake was the youngest person to swim from Cayman Brac to Little Cayman, a goal he achieved in 2021. As he trained and prepared for the swim, Jake learned consistency, dedication and perseverance, and the swim itself taught him how to "dig deep and never give up." In June 2020 at the young age of 12, Jake kiteboarded the length of Grand Cayman during COVID-19 to raise $55,000 for the nonprofit organisation, Acts of Random Kindness. His philanthropic spirit is evident in his weekly volunteering as a swim coach with Special Olympics Cayman Islands, a role he has held since he was 13 years old. Jake was also selected to represent the Cayman Islands at the Junior Davis Cup tennis tournament in Dominican Republic.
Jake is hoping to complete his tertiary education at university in either the United Kingdom or the United States, with a particular interest in studying engineering.
