Economics & Finance

Ethan is studying for a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance at the University of Exeter. Having originally chosen Computer Science for his degree, he realised his interest lay more in finance and business. Recent internships with the finance team in Dart’s real estate department cemented his belief that his future lies in the industry. He plays squash and football at university and was awarded the Anthony Finch Prize for computing and electronics on graduating from Bryanston School.

I have a strong belief in ‘getting what you give.’ This applies both to the effort you apply into individual achievements as well as how you treat and communicate with others.

Ethan's highlights

  • Anthony Finch Prize for Computing and Electronics from Bryanston School
  • A*/As A-levels in Computer Science, Mathematics and Physics
  • Second place in the British Physics Olympiad at Bryanston School
  • Headmaster’s commendation for physics
  • Gold award in UK Maths Challenge at intermediate level

As a Dart Scholar, Ethan enjoyed doing summer courses at both the University of Oxford and University of Cambridge during his high school years. He has interned with Dart’s IT department as well as for two consecutive years with the Finance team, and appreciates the mentoring given by Dart when deciding to change direction in his studies.

Ethan is inspired by people who work to improve the lives of others, naming Bill Gates (for his charity work since leaving Microsoft) as a prominent example.

I do not believe giving back purely means financial donations; those who give back in other ways due to not having an excess of money are even more impressive.
